About This Site

If you're like me, you started breaking away from Microsoft a long time ago. You've "been there done that" with Linux, and while you still have to hold the door open to the idea that Linux might be the best choice... you've at least decided to search for a better answer on the desktop.

Further, you're 37 years old but still enjoy playing games. Hard to know how you came into a pile of "found money" (for me it was a severance check after 14 years with the same company) but in any case, you blew some bucks on a laptop. You decided to buy a PowerBook G4/800 for a few reasons: first, you wanted a top-of-the-line machine, one that might still seem reasonable a few years down the road; second, you agreed there was little sense in buying a laptop just to load an operating system for which there would be no support from the vendor; third, you'd heard about Apple's new unix-based direction, and wanted to see if it was really "all that".

I'll continue with this silly stretch... you're just like me if you're trying to squeeze all the power you can from OS X. I've been a command-line guy (just like you, heh) for quite some time now, and while I'm likely preaching to the choir: brother, OS X does change everything, wow!

So that's what this site is about... sharing some experiences, maybe sparking some conversations... and mostly, a place for me to record some thoughts and links for posterity. Hope you enjoy!

PS:

You won't have to "view source" to see that I'm taking the easy way out regarding layout of this page. I doubt I'll update it very often. And I needed to cut a corner or two and get the site online. More improvements to follow, with any luck!
